649 FXUS62 KFFC 140730 AFDFFC Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Peachtree City GA 330 AM EDT Fri Jun 14 2019 .SHORT TERM /Today through Saturday/... The short term period will begin with the forecast area positioned on the back side of a longwave trough currently lifting away to the northeast. Subsidence aloft over the area along with surface high pressure moving slowly eastward over the southeastern CONUS will promote cool and dry conditions today and Saturday. Clear skies and no PoPs are expected through the short term, as a result. Temperatures today will furthermore be well below climatological averages. This is especially true early this morning, when low temperatures mainly in the 50s throughout the area (and even upper 40s in the far northeastern mountains) will be 6 to 10 degrees below normal. Highs this afternoon will similarly range from the upper 70s across far north Georgia to the mid 80s in central Georgia, which will be 3 to 6 degrees below normal. By this evening, the high pressure center should be to the east of our area as it makes its move towards the Atlantic coast. Low level flow will shift to the southeast on the back side of the surface high at this time and remain through the weekend. This steady southeasterly flow will promote a return of low level moisture and a subsequent increase in surface dewpoints late today and into Saturday. Dewpoints in the 40s and 50s this afternoon will climb to the low 60s by Saturday afternoon. King .LONG TERM /Saturday Night through Thursday/... The long term period will be characterized by a low amplified westerly flow aloft and increased moisture and instability allowing for shower and thunderstorm chances that should be generally diurnally oriented. Temperatures are expected to be within several degrees of normal through the long term period. BDL && .AVIATION... 06Z Update...
