As cold front approaches from the west, expect to see more surface based storms develop along the James River Valley late this afternoon into the early evening hours. Bulk shear remains weak, but on initial development could see a few strong storms develop marginally severe hail/winds. Cold front will work through the region through the overnight hours. Strong cold air advection behind the front will result in gusty winds. Temperatures tonight should easily fall back into the 50s with current afternoon temperatures in the 50s and 60s behind the front. With the upper wave hanging across the west, could see scattered showers and thunderstorms linger throughout the day on Sunday. Have raised cloud cover and pops, and lowered temperatures slightly in the east. Potential for instability showers to develop in the east Sunday afternoon if atmosphere is able to sufficiently mixout. Short wave passing through on Tuesday may lead to additional light showers across the region. Northwest flow transitions to a more zonal pattern late in the week, with a few disturbances passing through.
