Otherwise, gusty south winds were found across southern Iowa while more of an easterly to southeasterly wind prevailed across the central to northern part of the state. At 5 AM, temperatures ranged in the 60s with a few 50s over far northern Iowa. Expect a very active day across the region today as widespread thunderstorms are forecast to develop by the afternoon hours. Heavy rain and severe storms are possibly by this afternoon and into the evening. The potential for flash flooding exist as 1 to 3 inches of rainfall is forecast by late tonight. Lingering storms are anticipated Sunday before a brief cool down Sunday night. Temperatures by Monday morning look to dip into the upper 30s north to lower 40s south across Iowa. Another active day is in store for the region Tuesday into Tuesday night. Strong to possibly severe storms are forecast over southern Iowa into Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma.
