027 FXUS66 KSTO 262139 AFDSTO Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Sacramento CA 239 PM PDT Fri Apr 26 2019 .SYNOPSIS... Dry and warm conditions through the weekend. A slight threat of showers over the Sierra early next week. Dry with above normal temperatures the remainder of the week. && .DISCUSSION... The upper ridge continues to break down over the west coast as a weak wave across the PacNW continues to move east across the CONUS. Dry and warm conditions continue today with Valley high temperatures reaching into the mid and upper 80s, with higher elevations reaching into the 60s and 70s. Another trough builds into the northwest US this weekend while a closed upper low moves towards SoCal. Dry conditions look to persist through at least Sunday, before some small chances for showers are seen across the Sierra Sunday night and again Monday night as the aforementioned trough moves east and out of the area. As for temperatures, the cooling trend looks to continue through early next week with Valley highs in the low to mid 80s by Monday. Still, these temperatures continue to be 5 to 10 degrees above normal. && .EXTENDED DISCUSSION (Tuesday THROUGH Friday) A short wave disturbance will clip northern CA on Tuesday which could bring some mountain showers to the region primarily over the northern Sierra and Shasta and Western Plumas counties. In addition to this, a broad trough will setup shop over the region. This will bring cooler weather to the region; however, it'll be short lived as ridging from the Pacific nudges into California. This will warm temperatures and bring dry conditions to the region through the rest of the work week. Weekend ensemble guidance shows a low developing over the Pacific, but timing and locations is still a bit shaky. For now, have opted to continue with the dry forecast. && .AVIATION...
