111 FXUS64 KSJT 102010 AFDSJT Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service San Angelo TX 310 PM CDT Wed Apr 10 2019 .SHORT TERM... (Tonight and Friday) As of 2 PM, temperatures ranged from 89 to 98 degrees across west central Texas. Wind speeds were in the 15 to 20 mph range for the most part, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Winds are expected to continue to increase over the next few hours, which will result in Red Flag conditions across the western half of the area. Winds will remain gusty, while turning more westerly this evening, and temperatures will remain warm well past sunset. With gusty winds continuing, will keep the Wind Advisory going for this evening. The westerly winds will bring cooler temperatures tonight into Thursday, with highs only expected to reach into the upper 60s north of I-20, to the upper 70s along I-10, and we will continue to see breezy conditions , with west to northwest winds 10 to 20 mph. 20 .LONG TERM... (Thursday night through Wednesday) A weak cold front will move into the Big Country late Thursday night/Friday morning. Then, a return to southeasterly winds Friday afternoon will bring in more moist air, ahead of the next upper system moving into the Rocky Mountains. While isolated showers or thunderstorms are possible Friday evening, the better lift and rain chances will be Friday night after midnight into Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon rain chances then decrease south of I-20, but the northern Big Country could still chance of showers and thunderstorms into Saturday evening...as moisture wraps around the deepening trough/low in Oklahoma. Rainfall amounts of 1/4 to 3/4 inch possible this weekend, with the higher amounts more likely over the Big Country. Dry and cooler with highs in the upper 60s/near 70 in the Big County and lower to mid 70s farther south. There is return to warmer temperatures in the 80s Monday into Wednesday with southerly winds. Another upper system may affect the Central Plains midweek, but it appear most the dynamics and rain chances will be north or the region. .FIRE WEATHER... ...Red Flag Warning remains in effect through 10 PM... At 2 PM, RH values were below 20 percent across the entire area, with only a few exceptions. Winds were 15 to 20, gusting to 25 mph out of the southwest, and steadily increasing. In addition, as winds turn to the west tonight, there may be a slight dip in sustained wind speeds across the Big Country, but gusts will still be in the 25 to 30 mph range, and drier air moving in on westerly flow will keep RH values below 20 percent well past sunset. So, will keep the Red Flag Warning up, and through 10 pm tonight. Elevated to critical fire weather conditions are again expected on Thursday, but mainly for areas south and west of a San Angelo to Junction line. Will hold off on issuing a Red Flag Warning at this as winds could be marginal, but Crockett and Sutton counties would be the most likely candidates for a Red Flag Warning tomorrow morning through evening. Elevated to near critical fire weather conditions will be possible for parts of the Northern Edwards Plateau on Friday. 20 && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
