Powerhouse storm will move across Colorado today and tonight. This system will bring RED FLAG conditions to parts of the southeast plains today, mainly south and east of a line from Trinidad to La Junta to Lamar. West to southwest winds of 20 to 40 mph with gusts to 50 mph will be possible. Humidity values in these areas will be in the 10 to 15 percent range. Later this afternoon a powerful cold front will blast south across the plains, and winds will shift to northerly with gusts to 55 to 65 mph possible. Intense snowfall will develop across northern El Paso county by mid afternoon. As colder air moves down the plains, snow will be possible across the remainder of the plains by early this evening. Heavy snow will be possible across northern El Paso county. Another area of locally heavy snow will be possible from the Walsenburg to Kim areas. Heavy snows will occur in the mountains. For Thursday, it will be much cooler across the area and it will remain windy over the eastern plains.
