At 739 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over New Orleans, moving east at 25 mph. Pea size hail, heavy rainfall and frequent lightning will be possible with this storm. Locations impacted include... New Orleans, Chalmette, Gretna, Arabi and Meraux. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may lead to ponding of water on roadways and in other poor drainage areas. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
