411 FXUS65 KBOI 312024 AFDBOI Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Boise ID 224 PM MDT Sun Mar 31 2019 .SHORT TERM...Tonight through Tuesday...High clouds will spread across eastern Oregon tonight and western Idaho Monday. A Pacific trough will spread light rain inland as far east as Harney County Monday morning and the rest of eastern Oregon Monday afternoon. Light rain will slowly spread into western Idaho Monday night, and increase in eastern Oregon. All areas will be wet Tuesday as the Pacific trough comes inland. Total QPF through Tuesday will be .25 inch or less in Idaho, but .20 to .40 inch in eastern Oregon, heaviest in Harney County. Models show enough instability for a slight chance of thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon in southern Harney County. Low temps tonight will be 5-10 degrees warmer than last night as clouds increase. Highs Monday will be a little cooler than today in eastern Oregon as pcpn begins. In western Idaho highs will be a little warmer Monday, but cooler Tuesday. Snow level Monday and Monday night will be 6000-7000 feet in eastern Oregon and 5500-6500 feet in western Idaho. On Tuesday the snow level will range from 6500 feet north to 7500 feet south. No significant winds through Tuesday except near thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon. .LONG TERM...Tuesday night through Friday...Lingering showers as the upper level trough continues to press eastward at the start of the period. A brief break early Thursday morning as a weak ridge builds over the region ahead of our next weather- maker. A weak trough out ahead of a much wetter, stronger system will make its way through the area from the west late Thursday into Friday. The stronger system will bring widespread showers back to the region. Temperatures sit a few degrees above normal throughout the forecast period. Friday night through Sunday night...Showery and breezy conditions are expected as a progressive, unsettled weather pattern continues to dominate the region. Look for a strong upper level disturbance to roll through on Saturday bringing the more intense rain showers and windy conditions. Snow is still a possibility in the higher mountains. Afternoon thunderstorms are also possible with this system. The next, but weaker upper disturbance is expected to brush through the area Sunday. && .AVIATION...VFR.
