FLOOD WARNINGS ARE IN EFFECT FOR THESE AREAS... IN THE MISSOURI RIVER BASIN... For the Missouri River near Williston, major flooding is occurring and will continue. The river is forecast to rise to near 28.9 feet by Friday. Emergency management has reported an ice jam west of highway 85 that is forcing more water in the Trenton bottoms. The Trenton bottoms are nearly 100 percent covered with water. This ice jam is expected to move and impact areas south of Williston. Ice will continue to affect water levels along the Yellowstone and Missouri Rivers for the next few days. As ice moves and stops, water levels can rapidly fluctuate by a couple of feet. Once ice has cleared east of Williston, water levels are expected to steadily decrease. The Little Missouri River at Medora will remain in Minor Flood stage. The current river level was 15.4 feet. Flood stage is 15.0 feet. The river level is expected to crest near 17.0 feet Friday morning. Minor flooding continues along the lower Heart River near Mandan due to ice jams. Expect rapidly changing water levels as the ice moves through the river channel. The Cannonball River near Breien is in Minor flood stage and is forecast to remain in minor flood stage. The river is expected to crest near 18.9 feet Thursday afternoon. The Cedar Creek near Raleigh is forecast to rise to Minor Flood stage of 12.0 feet Thursday afternoon, and crest near 13.1 feet Friday afternoon. Do not drive across water covered roadways.
