683 FXUS66 KPDT 262349 AFDPDT Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Pendleton OR 443 PM PDT Tue Mar 26 2019 .SHORT TERM...Tonight through Friday...A stalled weak frontal boundary extends from central Idaho back into southern Oregon. This front will begin to lift northward overnight and Wednesday as the southerly flow increases across the region ahead of a shortwave coming around the large upper level low pressure system in the eastern Pacific. This shortwave will push the front north through Oregon Wednesday and then into Washington overnight. Behind the front there could be some thunderstorms over central Oregon Wednesday afternoon and evening. Snow levels are expected to remain around 4000 to 5500 feet but do not expect enough accumulation to warrant any advisories. The upper level low off the coast will continue to provide unstable conditions Thursday and Friday resulting in showers developing during the afternoon and then diminishing after sunset. More thunderstorms will be possible Thursday mainly over eastern Oregon. .LONG TERM...Friday Night through Tuesday...Friday night through Saturday night models show fair and dry conditions as an upper low off the Pacific Northwest coast weakens and eventually moves ashore as a weak wave Saturday night. As it does so, weak ridging will build aided by a disturbance approaching out in the Pacific. Saturday will be several degrees warmer than Friday with highs in the 50s and lower 60s. On Sunday, models have some differences in path, strength and timing but they bring a fairly wet front and trough to the coast with a slight chance of showers along the Cascades, central Oregon and the Ochoco-John Day Highlands Sunday or Sunday night then rain and mountain snow becoming likely across the entire area through Monday night before beginning to taper off on Tuesday. Snow levels will fluctuate between 5000 and 6500 feet, so snow will be confined to higher terrain. Temperatures will continue to be in the 50s and lower 60s during the day Sunday through Tuesday. Perry && .AVIATION...00Z TAFS. Mid and high level clouds over the region this evening and overnight with ceilings 100-200. A front will then cross the area from south to north Wednesday with rain. Ceilings will lower to bkn-ovc 030-060. Instability behind the front over central Oregon late afternoon might generate isolated thunderstorms. 94 && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
