Beginning 1 April 2019, The National Weather Service (NWS) in Topeka Kansas will change river forecast and warning services for Barnes 5 miles northeast and Barnes 4 miles northeast on the Little Blue River in Washington and Marshall Counties in north central Kansas. The changes will be as follows: The new forecast point location will be near Barnes 4 NE. The NWS location identifier for this location is BANK1. The NWS in Topeka will start forecast and warning service on the Little Blue River near Barnes 4 NE beginning April 1st, 2019. The flood stage for this location is 16.0 feet. Forecasts and warnings will be issued for times of high water, specifically for stages that will approach or exceed flood stage. The forecasts and warnings will also include impacts due to flooding upstream at Barnes 5 NE (BARK1). The NWS identifier for the Little Blue River near Barnes 5 NE is BARK1. Although this location will no longer receive river forecasts and warnings, the flood impacts for this location will be now incorporated with the forecasts and warnings issued at the downstream location, Barnes 4 NE (BANK1).
