VFR next 24 hours with seasonably breezy conditions during the day. && PREV DISCUSSION... /issued 256 AM CST Mon Feb 25 2019/ DISCUSSION... Largely zonal flow aloft this week will keep any cold air intrusions from reaching the Southern Plains of West Texas. A series of cold front will attempt to make their way into the region this week. But first, surface lee troughing today will garner some breezy south-southwest winds and temperatures above seasonal averages. The first cold front will move into the Texas Panhandle on Tuesday. This front could breach the extreme southeastern Panhandle in the afternoon where atmospheric mixing is not as deep when compared to areas west. The next front will back door into the area on Wednesday with fairly significant differences in models on the timing of this front. However, we have sided with the faster solutions depicted in the NAM and ECMWF. As a result, this will likely result in a sharp temperature gradient from northeast to southwest. On Thursday, westerly winds on the caprock and easterly winds off the caprock will bring another day of sharp temperature contrasts. Strong winds will emerge on Friday as a short wave trough moves across the Plains. This will be followed by the strongest front of the week on Friday night. We will remain in easterly low level flow through the weekend keeping temperatures well below seasonal averages balancing out the expected warmer than average temperatures this week. && .LUB WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
