The rain may be heavy at times. Excess runoff from already saturated soils may cause flooding of small streams and urban areas. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday Flooding of small streams and urban areas may persist into Sunday. Potomac River flooding is possible in the Washington DC area Monday into Tuesday. A Wind Advisory is in effect for the Washington and Baltimore Metropolitan areas as well as southern Maryland Sunday afternoon and evening. Wind gusts around 50 to 55 mph are expected and this may lead to isolated wind damage. Strong winds are possible again Monday morning through midday. Ice from light freezing rain and drizzle is expected, especially on elevated surfaces. Patchy freezing drizzle is also possible along and near the ridges of the Catoctin Mountains in Frederick and Washington counties in Maryland, and over the northern Virginia Blue Ridge mountains. A Flood Watch is in effect through tonight for Highland, Augusta, Albemarle and Nelson Counties. A soaking rain combined with recent snow melt may lead to isolated instances of flooding of low lying urban areas as well as small streams and creeks outside the watch area. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday Mainstem river flooding is possible Sunday into Tuesday. A High Wind Warning is in effect for the ridges of the Allegheny and Potomac Highlands as well as the Blue Ridge and Catoctin Mountains Sunday through Monday morning. Wind gusts around 60 mph are expected, which may lead to damage. Elsewhere, a Wind Advisory is in effect for the Shenandoah Valley, portions of the eastern West Virginia Panhandle, and portions of northern Virginia as well as central Maryland Sunday afternoon through Sunday evening.
