Clouds increased as gusty northwest winds continued behind the front ushering in much colder air into the area. Temperatures around the area at 5 AM, ranged from 8 degrees at Galesburg, to 30 degrees at Mount Carmel and Lawrenceville. Strong northwest winds will continue today, ushering a very cold airmass to the region. This afternoon, a quick moving weather system will bring light snow accumulations to much of Missouri, into southern Illinois, and the Ohio Valley later today and overnight. Another system will bring more light snow to the Midwest for late Saturday into Sunday, where several inches of snow are possible, especially across eastern Iowa and northern Illinois. Highs today, will range from the single digits above zero across northern Iowa, to middle 30s in southern Missouri and locations near the Ohio River. Lows tonight, will range from single digits below zero across much of Iowa and Wisconsin, to the lower 30s across southern Kentucky. $$ EJL
