633 FXUS64 KLCH 062152 AFDLCH Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Lake Charles LA 352 PM CST Wed Feb 6 2019 .DISCUSSION...A very mild day ongoing with strong southerlies in place ushering in unusual warmth for early February. Record highs for this day is around 80. Will not reach that number but certainly will be close. Increased strength of low level wind field will provide sufficient lift overnight to primarily maintain an elevated stratus deck inland. Sea fog however will remain entrenched over the near coastal waters. WAA continuing will allow for temperatures to fall only into the mid 60s tonight, this actually higher than the normal seasonal afternoon high. A another mild one on tap for Thursday ahead of a cold frontal passage late in the day. Shallow front progged to advance into the lakes area of southeast Texas early in the afternoon, exiting Acadiana toward mid- evening. Bulk of precip at this time appears primarily along boundary. Rapid movement of feature and limited upper support suggests rains at or below 1/4 inch. A brief cool down will then follow for Friday and Saturday. Onshore and warming flow returns for Sunday and continue until our next frontal passage toward mid- week. && .MARINE...A somewhat elevated southerly flow is expected to prevail into Thursday with high pressure centered to our east and lower pressures developing over the Plains. This flow will continue to push warm moist air atop the relatively cool shelf waters, resulting in periods of sea fog that will be dense at times. An advancing cold front will move through the coastal waters late Thursday afternoon and evening ending the fog threat, with a strong offshore flow expected behind it. Winds will relax into the weekend, then veer southeasterly as high pressure builds past the region. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
