504 WGUS43 KIND 061515 FLWIND Flood Warning National Weather Service Indianapolis IN 1015 AM EST Wed Feb 6 2019 ...The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a Flood Warning for portions of the following waterways in Indiana... Big Blue River...Big Walnut Creek...Driftwood River...East Fork White River...Flatrock River...White River...Tippecanoe River... Mississinewa River...Wildcat Creek...Eel River... .Lowland flooding has developed along portions of west central Indiana and will develop across many rivers and creeks across central Indiana over the next several days. One to two inches of rain fell across central Indiana today which is causing a rapid rise on central Indiana waterways. Another round of rain is expected between Wednesday and Thursday night with 1 to 2 inches of rain expected. There may be locally higher amounts south of Interstate 70. With the ground still frozen to some degree across portions of central Indiana and saturated soil from the rain on Wednesday, more of this rain will become runoff than would normally be experienced with this amount of rain. Significant flooding is possible along the lower stretches of the White and Wabash Rivers as well as potentially along portions the upper portions of the East Fork White Basin. Flooding will affect numerous local and state river roads, low agricultural land and some river parks. Precautionary/Preparedness Actions... Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river conditions. For detailed flood information go to weather.gov/ind on the web and click on rivers and lakes.
