487 FXUS64 KLUB 292002 AFDLUB Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Lubbock TX 202 PM CST Tue Jan 29 2019 .DISCUSSION... The deep upper low centered over south central Canada that is responsible for the deep freeze across the Midwest will lift northeastward late week with heights and thicknesses set to be on the increase over the southern High Plains as early as Thursday. That will result in an increase in temperatures for the South Plains area back to warmer than normal to end the week. A more zonal flow aloft this weekend into early next week will induce some breezy southwest to west winds through that period with temperatures increasing further with highs mainly in the 70s for the weekend. Precipitation looking unlikely through early next week. A low-amplitude and quickly-moving upper trough has a very small chance of generating some showers across the southeastern zones Friday night, although this system does not look good enough to introduce precip chances at this time. The next very slim chance comes toward Monday and Tuesday and will depend upon how an upper low over the Pacific northwest evolves. There has been some indication that a short wave ejecting from the trough housing the upper low might cross the Plains states far enough south to bring a chance for showers to the forecast area. The 12Z model suite has backed away from this possibility. Will keep the forecast dry at this time. && .LUB WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... None. && $$ 07
