741 FXUS64 KHGX 252100 AFDHGX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Houston/Galveston TX 300 PM CST Fri Jan 25 2019 .DISCUSSION... Have been seeing a general/gradual increase in clouds from west to east today, and this trend is expected to continue for the rest of the afternoon and on into tonight. Low rain chances come back into the forecast Saturday through Saturday night with the higher values in/around the Matagorda Bay area as a weak trough develops along the lower/middle Texas coast. As the trough moves eastward, high pressure builds into the area and gives us a dry Sunday and Monday with the warmest temperatures over the next seven days likely coming on Monday under strengthening south to southwest winds. Models are generally trending just a bit faster with the passage of a strong cold front that currently looks like it could be in/ around our northern counties around or shortly after sunset Monday evening and along/off the coast around or shortly after midnight. Look for colder temperatures to move into the area behind the front with morning lows on Tuesday expected to range from the low to mid 30s inland to the lower 40s at the coast, and highs across much of the area will likely be in the 40s. It will turn breezy/ windy behind the front too, and some wind advisories might be needed. High pressure builds quickly into the area during the day on Tuesday resulting in relaxing winds. Morning lows below freezing look likely on Wednesday, generally along/north of a line from Brenham to The Woodlands to Liberty, and with light/calm winds they could get as low as the upper 20s at our normal cold locations. Models are still showing some differences for the second half of the week, so for now will continue to keep some low rain chances along with near normal temperatures in the Thursday/Friday forecast. 42 && .MARINE... A light to occasionally moderate onshore flow will persist through Saturday with high pressure east of the region. Weak low pressure will develop over NE TX late Saturday and this feature will drag a cold front across the area early Saturday night. A moderate offshore winds is expected Saturday night in the wake of the front. Onshore winds will return by Sunday night as high pressure moves eat of the region. Another area of low pressure will move across the central plains on Monday and this feature will drag a stronger cold front across the area late Monday night. A strong offshore flow will develop in the wake of the front. An SCA or possibly a Gale Watch may be required early Tuesday. 43 && .PREV DISCUSSION... /ISSUED 1148 AM CST Fri Jan 25 2019/ AVIATION...
