772 FNUS56 KLOX 152214 FWFLOX Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwestern California National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard CA 214 PM PST Tue Jan 15 2019 ...RAIN, THUNDERSTORMS, FLOODING AND GUSTY WINDS THROUGH THURSDAY... .DISCUSSION... The last couple of storms in the active storm track will impact southwest California through Thursday. The first storm will move across the area this afternoon through tonight. Moderate to locally heavy rainfall will be likely with a slight chance of thunderstorms through this evening. Peak rainfall rates will range between 0.50 to 1.00 inches per hour with isolated rates up to 1.25 inches per hour. With such rates, minor to locally damaging mud and debris flows will be possible in and around the recent burn areas. Along with the rain, gusty southeast to south winds will continue through tonight. During the first part of Wednesday, there will be a bit of a lull in rainfall. However by Wednesday night, the final storm system will begin to move across the area, bringing another round of moderate to heavy rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds to the area through Thursday. Once again, rainfall rates are expected to exceed 0.50 inches per hour which will continue to bring the threat of minor to locally damaging mud and debris flows to the recent burn areas. Additionally, there will be the slight chance of thunderstorms Wednesday night and Thursday along with gusty southeast to south winds. For Friday through the weekend, dry conditions are anticipated as high pressure moves over the area. With weak north to northeast flow expected, temperatures will be on the increase.
