322 FXUS65 KBOI 071010 AFDBOI Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Boise ID 310 AM MST Wed Nov 7 2018 .SHORT TERM...Today through Friday...A weak upper trough will bring another round of light snow showers to the West Central Mountains today. Little additional accumulation is expected. The showers will taper off this evening as the trough exits to the east. Enough clearing exists in the north for patchy valley fog this morning, which will lift by noon. A north-northwest flow aloft tonight and Thursday will be followed by a weak upper ridge Thursday night and Friday for dry conditions across southeast Oregon and southwest Idaho. Temperatures will remain below normal. Lows will be in the teens and 20s, with highs mainly in the 40s. Record lows in the single digits are possible in Burns on Thursday and Friday. .LONG TERM...Friday night through Wednesday...Good model agreement for the weekend as an upper ridge remains off the west coast. This allows another cold front to drop into the Pacific Northwest in a northwest flow. Little in the way of impacts/precipitation are expected with this front as model qpf remains light and generally across the Franks Church Wilderness Area and the Salmon River. The flow shifts northerly Sunday as the ridge off the coast amplifies northward. Below normal temperatures are expected through most of the extended period. This ridge, with 588dm values over California, slides inland Monday and Tuesday. Model soundings showing strong inversions developing...therefore cooler temperatures than previous forecast package can be expected. Models diverge in solutions Wednesday as the GFS flattens this ridge, whereas the ECM keeps the ridge in place. && .AVIATION...Generally VFR conditions south and west of a KMYL- KSNT line. North and east, expect IFR/MVFR conditions in low clouds and fog. Fog dissipating after 07/18z, but afternoon snow showers along with mtns obscd will keep IFR/MVFR conditions in the forecast. Surface winds light and variable through 07/16z, becoming W-NW 5 to 15kts. Winds near 10kft, NW5 to 10 kts through 07/21z, the shift N 10 to 20 kts. && .BOI WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... ID...None.
