Mid afternoon readings were upper 80s. A cold front over the upper Midwest, will shift southeast, into the state tonight. This will bring a chance for showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could become strong to severe, with gusty winds being the main threat. The front will push farther south on Thursday, with unsettled weather confined to southern Illinois, and the Ohio Valley. Much cooler air will move in behind the front. However, the front will shift north on Friday, bringing warmer air and more unsettled weather back to the region. Low temperatures tonight will range from the lower 40s in central Iowa, to the lower 70s in southeast Illinois. Highs on Thursday will range from the mid 50s in northern Iowa, to the lower 80s along the Ohio Valley. $$
