Partly cloudy skies were observed across Puerto Rico during the 
overnight hours with low temperatures in mid to upper 70s and
lower 80s along the coastal areas. There were several scattered
showers and isolated thunderstorms that affected the northeast
part of the island as well as the local coastal waters. Few
nowcast forecast were issued overnight and one Marine Weather 
Statement for thunderstorm activity across the Caribbean waters.

Todays high temperatures were in the upper 80s to lower 90s near
the coastal areas, and the middle to upper 70s in higher
elevations. Tonight, mostly cloudy skies will prevail with 
easterly winds of 5 to 10 mph. Drier air is forecasted to move 
into the region early this Wednesday morning which will decrease 
the likelihood for showers for the rest of the overnight period.

For Wednesday afternoon, the drier air will diminish over the 
area and a plume of moisture work in from the east. Showers and 
isolated thunderstorms are possible mainly across the interior and
western areas of Puerto Rico.

A dominant period north to northeast swell, generated from the 
Major Hurricane Florence, will continue to affect the Atlantic 
waters and Caribbean Passages. An easterly swell, associated with 
Tropical Cyclone Isaac, is forecast to reach the islands later 
tonight then continue through the end of the work week. With that
said, small craft operators should exercise caution today while a
Small Craft Advisory is in effect from tonight into Thursday
evening.

Seas up to 10 feet in the north Atlantic waters with easterly 
winds 10 to 15 kts. For the rest of the northern coastal waters, 
small craft operators are urge to exercise caution. Elsewhere, 
seas up to 5 feet with easterly winds of 10 to 15 kts. A high rip 
current risk is in effect for beaches along the northern coast of 
Puerto Rico.
