Temperatures quickly climbed into the 80s late this morning, on their way to near 90. Southerly winds will continue to usher in warm, moist air today. This will create more instability over the Midwest, providing the opportunity for more unsettled weather throughout the region. Most of the storm activity will impact the upper Mississippi River Valley, however some wet weather will be possible as far south as central Illinois. Heading into Labor Day, temps will remain near 90 with heat index values in the upper 90s, and rainfall chances will remain throughout the area. Highs today will range from the lower 80s in northern Iowa, to the lower 90s in southern Illinois. Lows tonight will once again be mild, ranging from the upper 60s to low 70s. $$
