...COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM EDT
SATURDAY...
...COASTAL FLOOD WATCH IS CANCELLED...

The National Weather Service in Baltimore MD/Washington has
cancelled the Coastal Flood Watch. A Coastal Flood Advisory
remains in effect.

* LOCATIONS...Shoreline in Arlington County and the city of 
  Alexandria.

* TIDAL DEPARTURE...One to two feet through tonight. This could
  continue into the weekend as freshwater arrives from the north,
  but tidal departures high enough to cause moderate flooding now
  appear unlikely in Alexandria.

* TIMING...Around the time of high tide. High tide at Alexandria 
  is at 11:52 PM this evening.

* IMPACTS...To view inundation maps of potential flood extent in
  and near Arlington and Alexandria, visit 
  http://weather.gov/washington/potomacinundationmaps.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.

THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON...

* LOCATIONS...Shoreline in the District of Columbia.

* TIDAL DEPARTURE...One to two feet through tonight, continuing or
  increasing as freshwater inundation begins on Saturday and lasts
  into Sunday, with potential to raise tide levels above normal 
  by a few feet.

* TIMING...Around the time of high tide. High tide at the
  Washington Channel is at 11:34 PM this evening. Later, 
  freshwater inundation could lead to moderate flooding or 
  greater, potentially for a prolonged period Saturday through at 
  least Sunday.

* IMPACTS...To view inundation maps of potential flood extent in 
  and near Washington DC, visit

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Coastal Flood Watch means that conditions favorable for
flooding are expected to develop. Coastal residents should be
alert for later statements or warnings, and take action to
protect property.

will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.
