116 FXUS64 KMEG 030951 AFDMEG Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Memphis TN 351 AM CST Sat Mar 3 2018 .DISCUSSION... High pressure will bring a period of dry and mild weather to the Mid South this weekend. High temperatures will reach into the 60s, with lows in the 30s tonight and 40s Sunday night. An upper level low pressure system now over the Pacific Northwest will move east across the Middle and Upper Mississippi River Valleys by early next week. Deep moisture will advect back into the forecast area by Sunday night with showers and isolated thunderstorms expected from Sunday night through Monday night ahead of a pacific cold front and the associated upper troughing. Instability appears limited, therefore not expecting much in the way of severe weather. Overall rainfall totals do not look excessive at this time either, with most locations remaining less than one inch. Therefore, flash flooding is not anticipated but river flooding will continue to be a problem through the upcoming weekend and next week with rivers cresting above flood stage in most areas. Dry weather will return by next Tuesday behind the departing cold front. A reinforcing dry cold front is expected to move through the Mid South next Tuesday night. Colder temperatures are anticipated for the middle of next week behind the front. Temperatures should average around 10 degrees below seasonal averages through the middle portions of next week. A gradual warm up is expected by the end of next week. JLH && .AVIATION... VFR conditions will prevail through the period. NE-E winds generally 3-8 kts. SJM && .MEG WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
