Updated for aviation discussion && .PREV DISCUSSION... /issued 306 PM CST Fri Mar 2 2018/ DISCUSSION... Skies are sunny across the forecast area this afternoon with temperatures ranging from the mid 50s to lower 60s. High pressure was centered over northern Illinois this afternoon which is responsible for the clear skies and near normal temperatures. The surface high will move slowly east tonight keeping things dry. Temperatures will cool off some tonight with some locations over eastern sections of the forecast area having lows at or slightly below freezing. The surface high will remain in control of the weather on Saturday with no rain expected. Temperatures will remain near normal levels on Saturday with highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s. Saturday night will remain dry and somewhat chilly as a few locations in west Tennessee could see low temperatures Sunday morning close to freezing. Sunday will remain dry and somewhat warmer with highs in the 60s. By Sunday night, a large storm system will be moving out of the Rockies and into the central Plains. Ahead of this system, rain will begin to move into the forecast area Sunday night. By Monday morning, the cold front associated with the storm system will be moving through Texas and Oklahoma and will move east during the day. This will result in more rain for the area on Monday. By Monday night, the cold front will be moving through the region producing more rain. The cold front will be east of the region on Tuesday with dry conditions returning. High pressure will build into the region by Tuesday night bringing a period of dry weather with below normal temperatures for Tuesday night through Thursday. South winds return to the area by next Friday which will help bring temperatures closer to normal levels. ARS HYDROLOGY... River flooding will continue to be a major concern with a few river points reaching or remaining at moderate to major flood stages over the next several days. River flood warnings remain in effect for several of our main stem rivers and tributaries. Please continue to follow the advice of local emergency managers in areas prone to river flooding and move to higher ground if flooding is imminent or occurring.
