A strong upper-level trough is moving east into New England this 
evening. A shortwave ridge is building over the central CONUS in 
the wake of this trough and will provide tranquil weather 
conditions across the Mid-South this weekend. Wind speeds will 
remain in the 3-7 kt range overnight which should keep 
temperatures from dropping too quickly. That said, overnight 
temperatures are expected to range from 35-40 degrees by sunrise. 
Expect seasonal temperatures and sunny conditions Friday and 
Saturday with rain chances returning to the forecast by Sunday 
night. Only minor changes were made to the forecast.

Clouds are decreasing across the forecast area this afternoon 
with temperatures ranging from the upper 50s to mid 60s. A few 
showers continue to move across north Mississippi this afternoon. 
Most if not all of this activity should be out of the forecast 
area by this evening.

High pressure will start to build into the region tonight bringing
a start of dry weather and cool temperatures to the area.
Temperatures will drop to near normal levels this evening with 
lows Friday morning in the mid 30s to around 40 degrees. High
pressure will be over the upper Mississippi valley on Friday
keeping things dry and cool. Afternoon temperatures will be a few
degrees below normal with highs in the mid 50s to around 60
degrees. Friday night will be the coldest night in the forecast
period as temperatures drop to or slightly below freezing over
much of the eastern half of the forecast area. 

By Saturday, the high will be east of the region allowing south
winds to bring milder air into the forecast area. Temperatures
will be near normal with highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s. Dry
weather will continue into Saturday night with temperatures over
some portions of west Tennessee approaching the freezing mark by
Sunday morning. The warming trend will continue into Sunday with
highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s.

A new storm system will move out of the Rockies on Sunday and move
into the Plains by Sunday night. Rain will begin to move into the
forecast area in Sunday night. By Monday, a cold front associated
with this storm system will be moving into western Arkansas with
more rain expected across the region. The cold front will move
through the forecast area Monday night with more rain expected
ahead of the front. With the front out of the area on Tuesday only
parts of northeast Mississippi nay see any rain in the morning.

Behind the cold front, temperatures will drop some with below
normal readings expected from Tuesday night through next Thursday.
With high pressure controlling the weather during this period, dry
conditions are expected.
