617 AWCA82 TJSJ 062139 RWSPR Weather Summary for Puerto Rico National Weather Service San Juan PR 539 PM AST Sat Jan 6 2018 Scattered showers moved across the area this morning bringing rain to eastern Puerto Rico with only light amounts. Heavier showers grew over northwest Puerto Rico, but were brief and had almost dissipated by 5 PM AST. Temperatures, under partly cloudy skies, reached the mid 80s in the lower elevations and the mid 70s in the higher elevations. Jayuya even managed to reach 80 degrees today while San Juan had 86 degrees. Winds were 10 to 16 mph from the east with gusts in the lower 20s. A trough with a large area of moisture is invading from the east southeast and has already brought showers and a few gusty winds to Saint Croix. This area will be moving into eastern Puerto Rico later this evening with modest accumulations. There is, however only a slight chance of rain over northwest Puerto Rico during the overnight hours. Weather conditions will improve during the day, Sunday, over the island, although northwest Puerto Rico will again see some afternoon showers. Expect some gusty winds overnight with these showers--up to as much as 30 mph for a brief time. Overnight lows will range from the mid 70s to the lower 60s; highs tomorrow will be from the lower 70s to mid 80s. Seas up to 10 feet are expected to continue across the Atlantic waters with seas up to 8 feet across the Anegada Passage. Seas will increase across the rest of the local waters through Monday night. Therefore, Small Craft Advisories are in effect for most of the local waters tonight and all waters beginning Sunday morning. Additionally there is a High Surf Advisory for the the northern shores of Puerto Rico and Culebra and a high risk of rip currents for all of the local islands except the south shores of Puerto Rico. $$ This product is issued around 5 AM and 5 PM each day and weather conditions may change between issuances.
