587 AWUS85 KGGW 221629 RWSMT Montana Weather Summary National Weather Service Glasgow MT 1029 AM MDT Sun Oct 22 2017 A storm system moved across the Northern rockies last night to bring wind and rain. Satellite imagery this morning shows a front pushing southwest through Montana, bringing clouds and light rain showers. However, the main threat will be strong west winds across the high plains. Radar imagery is showing only light scattered rain. The maximum 24-hour precipitation was reported from Libby Dam with 54 hundredths of an inch. Kalispell came in with 26 hundredths, and St. Marys had 0.22 inch. Several other stations reported only trace amount up to 0.01 inch. West Yellowstone reported 1.0 inch of snow and a snow depth of 1 inch. The lowest overnight temperatures came from Wolf Point Airport and Plentywood, each with 24 degrees. More lows include Billings & Great Falls with 40 degrees, Cut Bank with 35, Glasgow with 31, Helena with 38, and Missoula with 38. At 10 AM this morning: Missoula, Helena and Glasgow reported light rain, Mullan Pass rain & fog. West yellowstone had light snow. The strongest winds were reported from Havre 31 gusting to 38, Lewistown 30 gusting to 36, and Grass Range 32 gusting to 45. Many stations were averaging 25 gusting to 35. The current temperatures range from Helena and Grass Range with 56 degrees to 34 degrees at West yellowstone. Missoula is 49, Great Falls & Billings 51, and Glasgow is 43. Expect rain and highs in the mid 40s to lower 50s today west of the Divide. East of the Divide, winds will become very strong at 30 to 50 mph with gusts to 55 mph or greater at times.
