Brisk east to northeast winds will prevail across east central Florida this afternoon as a strong high pressure ridge pushes toward the eastern sea board. Sustained winds between 15 and 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph are expected. These winds will push scattered showers onshore south of Sebastian Inlet that will produce brief periods of light to moderate rain as far inland as Lake Kissimmee and the northwest shore of Lake Okeechobee. Outside of the rain areas...skies will be partly to mostly cloudy. Maximum temperatures will be in the low to mid 80s. The brisk onshore flow will produce hazardous beach and boating conditions. A Small Craft Advisory is in effect over all the coastal waters...while a High Surf Advisory is in effect along the beaches. All beach reports indicated high rip current threats at area beaches. Dangerous breaking waves and rip currents will exist in the surf zone. Some beach erosion is possible near the early morning high tide and again this evening. && Additional details...including graphics are available online at: http://www.weather.gov/mlb/blog $$
