Through 530 am, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will impact the nearshore and offshore waters surrounding the Lower and Middle Keys. Some of these showers may occasionally cross the island chain from Key West to Marathon through the hour. Storm motion will be north-northwest between 10 and 15 knots. As of 410 am, the strongest activity extended from 5 nm south of Cosgrove Shoal Light to 60 nm out from Marathon. Mariners and residents encountering these storms can expect moderate to heavy rainfall, occasional cloud- to- surface lightning strikes, wind gusts near 25 knots, and reduced visibility. $$
