547 AWCA82 TJSJ 012045 RWSVI Weather Summary for the U.S. Virgin Islands National Weather Service San Juan PR 445 PM AST Thu Jun 1 2017 Skies were mostly sunny across the region with only a few light showers noted over the coastal waters and down-wind of some of the islands.Except for local sea breeze variations winds were from the east to northeast at 10 to 15 mph with occasional higher gusts along the coastal areas. A somewhat drier mass moved across the region today which resulted in limited shower activity and mostly fair weather skies. A mid to upper level trough will linger across the region on Friday but will slowly shift eastward and reach the Lesser Antilles by Sunday. Therefore, available moisture and the proximity of the upper trough should result in early morning passing showers and a few afternoon showers across parts of the islands and coastal waters overnight through Friday. The overnight temperatures will be in the high 70s to low 80s across along coastal areas. Winds over land will become calm to light and variable overnight, becoming mainly east to northeast at 10 to 15 mph by late morning. Seas up to 5 feet and east winds up to 20 knots are expected across the local waters. Therefore, small craft operators should exercise caution across portions of the local waters due moderate to fresh easterly winds. There is a moderate risk of rip currents across the north and southeast beaches of St Croix. $$ This product is issued around 5 AM and 5 PM each day and weather conditions may change between issuances.
