Skies became partly to mostly cloudy mainly along the Cordillera Central and the northwestern quadrant of Puerto Rico. The Doppler Radar detected moderate to locally heavy showers across the northwestern municipalities during the afternoon hours with estimated rainfall reaching 2 inches across isolated areas. The strongest shower activity was detected over the municipalities of Camuy, Quebradillas, and Isabela. Southeasterly winds at 5 to 15 mph were observed with sea breeze variations along the coastal sections. The coastal maximum temperatures were between the upper 80s and lower 90s, and in the low to mid 80s across the higher elevations. A new maximum temperature record was set today at the San Juan Luis Munoz Marin airport with a temperature of 93 degrees. For tonight into early Tuesday, partly cloudy skies are expected with isolated to scattered showers, mainly across the surrounding waters and a southeasterly wind. On Tuesday afternoon, showers and thunderstorms are possible across the northwestern municipalities, mainly fair weather is expected elsewhere. Temperatures could reach the low 90s once again on Tuesday across the northern municipalities. Mariners can expect seas between 2 to 5 feet and winds 10 to 15 knots tonight, seas to increase up to 6 feet across the Atlantic waters on Tuesday. For beachgoers, there is a moderate risk of rip currents for most of the north facing beaches of Puerto Rico as well as Vieques and Culebra tonight, but northern Puerto Rico could have a high risk of rip currents on Tuesday. $$ This product is issued around 5 AM and 5 PM each day and weather conditions may change between issuances.
