Pre- dawn temperatures across the eastern half of Kansas were mild for late February standards in the 40s and 50s. A strong storm system approaching from the west will spread widespread precipitation across northern portions of the region today and tonight, more specifically Nebraska, Iowa and northern portions of Kansas and Missouri. Heavy snow is probable across portions of Nebraska and northwest Iowa, with forecast highs in the 30s and 40s. Further south, much warmer conditions will prevail, with near-record high temperatures in the 70s and 80s. Colder air will spread south tonight on strong northwest winds, as a strong cold front blasts across Kansas. Low temperatures will range from teens over portions of Nebraska to 40s over far southeast Kansas. $$
