839 FXUS64 KMAF 120928 AFDMAF Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX 328 AM CST Mon Dec 12 2016 .DISCUSSION... Our first of several weak cold fronts that will move through this week, continues to push south across the area this morning. Cooling will be minimal behind the front and limited to the northeast half of the CWA this afternoon. That being said, high temperatures will range from the upper 50's near Snyder to 80 degrees along the Rio Grande. A couple more ripples in the nearly zonal flow aloft will bring fronts into the area both Tuesday and Wednesday. Each day looking similar to the last with dry conditions and temperatures cool north, very warm south. The front late Wednesday will be the strongest of the three. Thursday could be a little messy as moisture overrides the frontal boundary. It's looking very possible that highs will only make the 40's across the majority of the area with light rain and fog much of the day. Temperatures rebound back to well above normal values Friday as cold air gathers to our north. A shortwave will eject out of the Rockies and onto the Plains this weekend allowing another cold front to move south across the region Saturday. This airmass doesn't look overly cold, but high temperatures will fall back below normal. Models disagree on the overall pattern early next week, but we should see moderating temperatures and mostly dry conditions. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
