Some reports of gusty winds and heavy rainfall have been observed with the stronger storms. South to southwesterly winds at around 10 to 20 mph are in place across Iowa. Early evening temperatures range from the upper 60s across northern Iowa where thunderstorms have just moved through, to around 90 in southeastern Iowa that has yet to see any storms today. Thunderstorms are expected to continue across much of the state throughout the evening hours, before dissipating overnight. Dry conditions are then expected into the end of the week and beginning of the weekend, as a large upper level ridge builds into the central US. Temperatures are expected to be above average through the weekend, with some humid conditions as well. The next chance for precipitation looks to be early next week for much of Iowa. $$ MJB
