VFR conditions with mostly clear skies are expected at the west Texas and southeast New Mexico terminals the next 24 hours. Winds will be mainly light southeast tonight and Saturday morning and then mainly south at 10 to 15 mph and gusty Saturday afternoon. 12 PREV DISCUSSION... /issued 147 PM CST FRI DEC 18 2015/ Flat upper ridging over the region today will transition to southwesterly Saturday ahead of the next ua trough. Near normal temperatures will persist through Saturday with temperatures rising well above normal Sunday as the said ua trough passes by to the north of the region. Dynamics associated with the trough will be too far north to allow for any rain chances in our area. Westerly winds will increase on Sunday with high winds possible in the Guadalupe Mountains, and at least elevated Fire Weather concerns. Will mention these concerns in the Hazardous Weather Outlook for now. A broad upper trough will remain over the ConUS through Christmas Day with above normal temperatures persisting over the region for the duration. There may be a little of a cool down on Wednesday and Christmas Eve next week, but the forecast will likely cleave toward the middle of guidance offerings until there is a bit more agreement on warmer or cooler temps. Dry conditions will persist though with another potential mountain high wind/fire weather concern day on Tuesday as the base of the next ua trough passes by to the north of the region. A deeper ua trough is progged to form over the southwest ConUS by next weekend and possibly give the area a chance of precipitation and colder temperatures. This is beyond the scope of the current forecast, but stay tuned as wintry precipitation may be in the cards for next Sunday or Monday. .MAF WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... NM...NONE. TX...NONE. && $$
