Areas of dense fog were observed as well across portions of southeast Missouri into southern Illinois. Visibilities were as low as 1/4 mile. A warm front will lift north of the region over the next 24 hours and result in mild temperatures today and Wednesday. We could see a few showers and possibly a thunderstorm Wednesday afternoon and night as a cold front works east across the area. Conditions will deteriorate Thursday night through Friday, as mixed wintry precipitation appears likely. Arctic high pressure building south into the area, coupled with disturbances moving from southwest to northeast in the upper levels of the atmosphere should set the stage for winter weather impacts. && FOR A MORE DETAILED METEOROLOGICAL DISCUSSION, REFER TO THE AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION PRODUCT (PIL SDFAFDPAH). $$
