377 FXUS65 KMSO 261327 RRA AFDMSO Area Forecast Discussion...RETRANSMISSION National Weather Service Missoula MT 726 AM MDT Tue Mar 26 2013 .DISCUSSION...High pressure will once again be in place today, providing plenty of sunshine across western Montana and much of central Idaho. Clouds will be on the increase through this afternoon, affecting mostly south central Idaho, while points north and east will remain mostly sunny. There is a slight chance at some late afternoon rain showers occurring across south central Idaho as well, but chances are minimal. By Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, the chance for rain and even some thunder increases. Coverage of showers will be widespread by late Thursday afternoon, however the chance for measurable rainfall will be low. A few lightning strikes could occur with these afternoon/evening showers as well, but with few (if any) impacts expected. Temperatures will be the most noticeable feature through the end of the week, as the region warms a few degrees each passing day. Most locations across the Northern Rockies will reach the upper 50s to low 60s by Thursday, and are expected to stay mild through the weekend. Overnight low temperatures will also moderate, finally getting a few degrees above freezing by Friday morning. Friday, there will be a moist northwest flow over the region, which could produce a few showers, but snow levels should be high enough for most of the precipitation to be in the form of rain. Then Saturday and Sunday, a ridge of high pressure will move over the region, decreasing the chances of precipitation and keeping temperatures well above normal. && .AVIATION...Increasing high to mid clouds will continue to stream across south central Idaho through the day, with points north and east across the rest of the Northern Rockies remaining mostly sunny. Winds will be light and variable, and mostly diurnally driven. A few isolated rain showers could develop later this afternoon, but would only occur over KSMN and surrounding south central Idaho airfields. Few aviation impacts are anticipated through Wednesday. && .MSO WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... MT...None.
