000 FNUS56 KPQR 281643 FWFPQR LAND MANAGEMENT FORECAST NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PORTLAND OREGON 845 AM PDT Fri Mar 28 2003 WEISHAAR ...WARM AND DRY NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS... DISCUSSION: High pressure is building over the district this morning and will continue to do so today and Saturday. The early morning upper air profile from Salem showed the base of the subsidence inversion at around 4500 feet MSL. Surface gradients this morning are quite weak...which has resulted in plenty of low clouds and fog on the west side. A weak warm front will clip the coast today...but little...if any...precipitation is expected. The upper ridge will be centered over Western Washington and Oregon Saturday. This will give the warmest day of the year to most areas. The ridge will shift to the east side Sunday for the warmest day there. The next frontal system should reach the north zones Sunday afternoon then sag south Sunday night. Next week is looking cool...wet...and unstable. More on this in the afternoon discussion. 24 hr change 5 am freezing level Salem: 4400 Ft +1200 Ft Medford: 5700 Ft +2200 Ft ***************************************************************** Forecast winds are 10 minute averages 20 ft above vegetation. ***************************************************************** ORZ001>005-WAZ020>022 AREA 1...COASTAL ZONES 601 602 603 612 .TODAY WEATHER: Mostly cloudy zone 601 with a slight chance of light rain.
