...Heavy Rain Across Portions of Central Iowa This Morning...

At 635 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near Rush Lake to 13 miles east of Gowrie to 6
miles north of Bondurant. Movement was northeast at 5 mph.

Rainfall amounts up to three inches will be possible with these
storms leading to localized street flooding.

Locations impacted include...
Des Moines, Ames, Ankeny, Urbandale, Fort Dodge, Johnston, Altoona,
Boone, Pleasant Hill, Webster City, Nevada, Pocahontas, Dakota City,
Windsor Heights, Humboldt, Carlisle, Bondurant, Story City, Polk City
and Huxley.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
