Weather Summary for Iowa
National Weather Service Des Moines IA
1057 AM CST Thu Dec 6 2018

Skies have been mostly sunny to mostly cloudy across the Iowa this
morning as a few patches of low stratus move through the state. Late
morning temperatures range from upper teens in northwest Iowa to the
upper 20s in southeast Iowa. Winds are generally from the north at 10
to 15 mph, with a few higher gusts.

A large area of high pressure will build into the state tonight into
Friday bringing quiet and cold conditions to the state. Wind chills
will dip into the single digits to teens below zero by Friday morning
across much of northern Iowa. A weak upper level disturbance will move
through the region toward the latter half of the weekend. It will not
have much moisture to work with, so may bring some partly to mostly
cloudy skies at times, otherwise no precipitation is anticipated
through early next week. Colder conditions will continue into the
weekend with a gradual warmup expected for much of next week.
