A weak area of high pressure arrived across Iowa overnight and 
brought light winds to the state. Despite the area of high pressure, 
partly to mostly cloudy skies were over central and southern Iowa 
while the northern portion of the state was clear. Temperatures at 4 
am were in the low to mid 60s at most locations. Forest City and 
Waterloo were the coolest locations at 57 degrees.

The end of the week will remain quiet and warm, with highs in the 80s
and lows in the 50s and 60s through Friday. Thunderstorm chances will
increase across the Dakotas and Nebraska late Friday and Friday night
then reaching western Iowa on Saturday. More widespread thunderstorms
are possible by Saturday night. A few storms could be severe during 
this period. Temperatures will be cooler Sunday and Monday with highs 
in the 60s and 70s.
