Weather Summary for Iowa
National Weather Service Des Moines IA
523 PM CST Thu Mar 8 2018

After some morning cloud cover, sunshine dominated the day across the
state. As enticing as the sunshine was, it still was a chilly day
across Iowa with lighter northwest winds and highs ranging from the
mid 20s across the north where snow remained, to the mid and upper
30s across the south. Temperatures had not moved much off of daytime
highs as of early this evening, but over western and northwest Iowa
winds had become calm to even southerly in a few cases.

Winds will turn southeasterly this evening and overnight as high
pressure slides across Iowa, helping trend temperatures warmer over
the next couple of days. By Saturday nearly all of Iowa may see highs
in the 40s, with upper 40s to around 50 likely along and south of
Interstate 80. Unfortunately those warmer temperatures will be put on
hiatus for a couple of days towards the end of the weekend as a low
pressure system brings about opportunities for a wintry mix and cooler
temperatures. Highs will slide back into the mid 30s to mid 40s from
Sunday through about Tuesday before warmer temperatures look to
return.
