Despite a mainly clear sky today, temperatures have only peaked in 
the single digits above zero with some teens in far southern Iowa. 
Winds from the northwest of 10 to 15 mph have accentuated the chill 
this afternoon as well.

With high pressure influencing our weather tonight, skies will remain
mainly clear and temperatures will fall into the upper single
digits below zero over southern Iowa to the middle teens below zero
over northern Iowa. With the combination of winds from the northwest
of 5 to 10 mph, this will create wind chill values of -20 to -30
degrees tonight into Thursday morning. Temperatures will rise only
into the single digits to around 10 degrees above zero Thursday
afternoon as cloud cover increases. Flurries are possible over western
Iowa, but a better chance for flurries or light snow will streak
across the state Thursday night. Snowfall amounts will generally range
from a dusting to around a half inch. Temperatures will moderate
Friday into Sunday with parts of southern Iowa rising above freezing
Sunday. Precipitation will accompany the warm air with the best chance
