Weather Summary for Iowa
National Weather Service Des Moines IA
1102 AM CST Thu Dec 7 2017

It was a sunny morning across the state with brisk northwest winds
and cold temperatures. Northwest winds were 10 to 15 mph with
occasional stronger gusts. Lows were in the single digits northwest to
the mid and upper teens southeast. The combination of brisk winds and
cold temperatures pushed wind chills into the single digits, above
and below zero around sunrise. By late morning, temperatures were in
the single digits northwest to the lower 20s southeast.

A large area of high pressure will remain in place across the upper
midwest for the next several days, which will produce cool and
relatively dry conditions, except for occasional periods of light snow
or flurries well into next week. For today, temperatures will remain
in the 20s for highs. Another shot of cold air moves into the region
and looks to bring cloudy skies with a few flurries by Friday morning.
More very blustery winds are forecast Friday afternoon into Saturday.
Some light snow chances exist across northeast Iowa into Wisconsin
and southeast Minnesota Friday night. Slightly warmer temperatures
look to enter the state by Sunday when highs will rise into the 40s.
