WEATHER SUMMARY FOR IOWA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DES MOINES IA
445 AM CDT Sun Aug 13 2017

An area of showers and isolated thunderstorms moved into west central
Iowa early this morning. Precipitation amounts were light. The
precipitation was associated with the remnants of decaying
thunderstorms from eastern Nebraska. High level clouds associated with
this activity spread east across much of central and western Iowa
overnight and limited viewing opportunities of the Perseid meteor
shower that is occurring this weekend. Temperatures at 4 am ranged
from the low to mid 50s east to the low to mid 60s west. The wind was
light and variable east while becoming light southeasterly west.

The region of showers and isolated thunderstorms may reach central
Iowa this morning before ending. Additional showers and thunderstorms
are forecast over northwest Iowa and adjacent areas late this
afternoon and into the evening. This activity will sink slowly
southeast as a boundary enters the region. The boundary will remain in
the vicinity through Tuesday night before a cold front moves through
the Midwest and brings additional precipitation chances.
