.OVERVIEW...PRELIMINARY INFORMATION INDICATE THREE TORNADOES
AFFECTED NORTHWEST OKLAHOMA ON MONDAY EVENING.. NOVEMBER 16.
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CONTINUES TO ANALYZE ADDITIONAL 
INFORMATION AS IT IS RECEIVED AND THE FOLLOWING RESULTS MAY
BE MODIFIED.

THIS TORNADO DEVELOPED AT 820 PM 15 MILES WEST-SOUTHWEST OF HIGGINS
TEXAS ACCORDING TO PRELIMINARY INFORMATION FROM THE NWS OFFICE IN 
AMARILLO. THE TORNADO MOVED INTO ELLIS COUNTY OKLAHOMA AND TRAVELED
NORTHEAST FOR 17 MILES DAMAGING TREES AND POWER LINES. THE TOTAL 
PATH LENGTH OF THIS TORNADO IN TEXAS AND OKLAHOMA WAS APPROXIMATELY
43 MILES. PLEASE SEE THE PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT FROM THE NWS 
OFFICE IN AMARILLO TEXAS FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT THIS 
TORNADO IN THE TEXAS PANHANDLE.

THIS TORNADO FORMED IN NORTHEAST ELLIS COUNTY AND MOVED NORTHEAST
INTO HARPER COUNTY WHERE THE LAST KNOWN DAMAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10
MILES EAST OF BUFFALO. TREES AND POWER LINES WERE DAMAGED AND AT
LEAST 3 OUTBUILDINGS WERE DAMAGED OR DESTROYED. EYEWITNESSES 
DESCRIBED THIS AS A WIDE TORNADO...AND THERE ARE SOME INDICATIONS 
THAT THERE MAY HAVE BEEN MORE THAN ONE SIMULTANEOUS TORNADO NORTH 
OF FORT SUPPLY.

THIS TORNADO PRODUCED TREE DAMAGE ALONG STATE HIGHWAY 34 TWO TO
THREE MILES SOUTH OF THE KANSAS STATE LINE... ALTHOUGH THE TORNADO
MAY HAVE DEVELOPED FARTHER SOUTHWEST. THE TORNADO MOVED NORTH-
NORTHEAST AND CROSSED INTO COMANCHE COUNTY KANSAS LESS THAN A MILE 
EAST OF HIGHWAY 34. THE PATH LENGTH IN OKLAHOMA WAS AT LEAST 3 MILES 
WITH A TOTAL PATH LENGTH IN OKLAHOMA AND KANSAS OF APPROXIMATELY 
19 MILES. FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE KANSAS PORTION OF 
THIS TORNADO...PLEASE SEE THE PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT FROM THE 
NWS OFFICE IN DODGE CITY KANSAS.
