...EF0 TORNADO IN WEST CARROLL PARISH...

TORNADO START TIME: 757 PM 3/11/12
TORNADO START LOCATION: 6.8 MILES W OAK GROVE
TORNADO END TIME: 8 PM 3/11/12
TORNADO END LOCATION: 5.7 MILES WNW OAK GROVE
MAXIMUM WIDTH: 100 YARDS
MAX PATH LENGTH: 2.6 MILES
RATING AND MAX WIND SPEED: EF0 85 MPH

DESCRIPTION: THE TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN ALONG BAR K ROAD, WHERE
MULTIPLE TREES WERE SNAPPED OR UPROOTED, AND ONE MANUFACTURED HOME
WAS DAMAGED BY A FALLEN TREE. THE TORNADO THEN CONTINUED NORTHEAST,
PASSING THROUGH THE FISKE UNION COMMUNITY NEAR THE JUNCTION OF
LOUISIANA HIGHWAYS 585 AND 879. ALONG HIGHWAY 585, SEVERAL TREES WERE
SNAPPED OR UPROOTED. IN ADDITION, THERE WAS SHINGLE DAMAGE TO HOMES,
AN OUTBUILDING WAS DAMAGED, AND PART OF THE FACING WAS REMOVED FROM A
MOBILE HOME. THE TORNADO PARALLELED HIGHWAY 585 FOR A SHORT DISTANCE,
SNAPPING A FEW TREES IN A CEMETERY BEFORE LIFTING.

AN ADDITIONAL STORM SURVEY IN EASTERN MOREHOUSE PARISH INDICATED
STRONG STRAIGHT-LINE WIND DAMAGE.

STRONG STRAIGHT-LINE WINDS PRODUCED A 2 TO 3 MILE WIDE SWATH OF DAMAGE
IN THE AREA BETWEEN MER ROUGE AND THE WEST CARROLL PARISH LINE. ALONG
LOUISIANA HIGHWAY 2, PART OF A LARGE GRAIN SILO WAS DAMAGED NEAR
MERTON BOWE ROAD. AT THE SAME LOCATION, AN EIGHTEEN WHEELER WAS BLOWN
OVER. JUST OVER A MILE EAST OF THIS LOCATION, LARGE DOORS ON A HANGAR
WERE BLOWN IN AT AN AIRFIELD. A DAVIS INSTRUMENTS WEATHER STATION AT
THE AIRFIELD RECORDED A 77 MPH WIND GUST DURING THE STORM. ADDITIONAL
DAMAGE TO OUTBUILDINGS AND FARM EQUIPMENT OCCURRED IN THIS GENERAL
AREA, AND MANY TREES WERE SNAPPED OR UPROOTED. BECAUSE THE DAMAGE WAS
SPORADIC AND WIDESPREAD IN NATURE, IT WAS NOT INDICATIVE OF A TORNADO.
