IN 1982...A MAJESTIC WINTER STORM OVERWHELMED
COLORADO...BURYING MANY AREAS WITH 2 TO 4 FEET OF SNOW. 
A RECORD 2 FEET OF SNOW CLOSED STAPLETON AIRPORT FOR 33
HOURS...WHICH HURT THE SKI INDUSTRY AS SKIERS WERE UNABLE
TO REACH THE SLOPES.  IN 1983...AN INFAMOUS ARCTIC
OUTBREAK CONTINUED TO WREAK HAVOC ACROSS THE NORTHERN
PLAINS.  WILLISTON...ND TIED AN ALL-TIME RECORD LOW OF 50
BELOW ZERO WHILE BISMARCK FROZE IN 40 BELOW ZERO
TEMPERATURES.  THE STRONG NORTHERLY WINDS PUSHED WIND
CHILLS TO AS LOW AS 100 BELOW ZERO! MEANWHILE...HIGH
TEMPERATURES IN MINNEAPOLIS...MN ONLY REACHED 17 BELOW
ZERO...SETTING AN ALL-TIME RECORD COLDEST HIGH
TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH OF DECEMBER.	IN
1997...SNOWFALLS RANGING FROM 15 TO 30 INCHES PARALYZED
EASTERN AND CENTRAL NEW MEXICO.  MANY ROADS WERE
CLOSED...INCLUDING INTERSTATE 40 BETWEEN ALBUQUERQUE AND
SANTA ROSA.  DRIFTS CLOSED SOME ROADS UNTIL JANUARY 14TH.
